Pregnancy and parenthood are times of anticipation, excitement, challenge, and growth. In addition, individuals and couples can experience significant difficulty as they navigate these profound transitions. I dedicate part of my practice to helping women work though the broad range of issues that may arise during the postpartum period. This can include depression, anxiety, relationship distress, identify loss or confusion, ambivalence, and generally feeling unsure and overwhelmed.
My approach to working with these issues is grounded in providing support and guidance in the context of a warm, accepting therapy relationship. The primary goal of psychotherapy is to ease distress and develop coping skills and strategies to manage feelings, thoughts, and behaviors.
